breeding size and sexing

what is the jacks breeding size/age and how can you tell the sex?

I would say at around 4 inches Jacks will start to mate. Some fish may take longer and until about 6 inches they are still maturing.

Sexing them isn't always easy. Males grow a bit larger than females. Their anal and dorsal fins are some times longer than a female but that is relative. Females will have blue spangles on their gill plates where males will not or will have smaller spots instead of spangles.

spangles would be like a big cluster correct?

Yeah, like splotches instead of spots on the gill plates. Look at photos here. When you look at the colouring on their sides the males lateral stripe is less visible and their colour distribution from back to tummy tends to be more uniformed.

As some breed at a large size some will breed smaller mine are about 4 months now but had there first batch of fry at about 3 1/4 inches.
